At a tourist viewpoint in Blanca, I’ve photographed the grid pattern that appears on the ground glass of my large format camera. This technical image is used during the shooting process to help position and focus the camera correctly. Usually, it can only be viewed from under a black cloth; otherwise, it becomes illegible due to ambient light. Rather than taking a photogenic shot of this picturesque spot, I opted for a functional view. I give it a raison d’être, even though it was never intended to survive in this capacity, let alone function independently. Presenting the life-size print in a deep, dark frame refers to the original viewing experience through frosted glass and light-proof cloth.
